Bol tie\u017e teol\u00f3g, reform\u00e1tor, historik, b\u00e1snik, re\u010dn\u00edk, evanjelista, \u0161\u013eachtic, u\u010den\u00fd \u010dlovek (jeho v\u0161estrannos\u0165 vyjadrovania, brilantnos\u0165 a bohatos\u0165 slovnej z\u00e1soby je \u00fa\u017easn\u00e1). Berie sa za najv\u00e4\u010d\u0161ieho proroka po Moj\u017ei\u0161ovi. Mal dvoch synov, vysok\u00e9 postavenie, pr\u00edstup ku kr\u00e1\u013eovi. V t\u00fdch \u010dasoch boli kr\u00e1\u013eovstv\u00e1 (sever a juh) v duchovnom \u00fapadku, modl\u00e1rstve a kv\u00f4li Bo\u017eiemu s\u00fadu ich hriechov i v nebezpe\u010denstve od okolit\u00fdch silnej\u00facich r\u00ed\u0161. Severn\u00e9 kr\u00e1\u013eovstvo (Izrael) utvorilo koal\u00edciu so S\u00fdriou proti rast\u00facej As\u00fdrskej r\u00ed\u0161i na v\u00fdchode. K tejto koal\u00edcii sa ju\u017en\u00e9 kr\u00e1\u013eovstvo (J\u00fadea) odmietlo prida\u0165, \u010d\u00edm vznikla ob\u010dianska vojna medzi severom a juhom. Juh si n\u00e1sledne v panike prizval na pomoc As\u00fdriu, \u010do As\u00fdria uv\u00edtala, dobyla sever a vzala ho do zajatia 722 p.n.l. Ju\u017en\u00e9 kr\u00e1\u013eovstvo sa stalo vazalom As\u00fdrie a po \u010dase, ke\u010f bola As\u00fdria vn\u00fatorne oslaben\u00e1, sa vzb\u00farilo na \u010dele s pobo\u017en\u00fdm kr\u00e1\u013eom Chizkij\u00e1\u0161om (Ezechi\u00e1\u0161). As\u00fdria odpovedala pod veden\u00edm Sancher\u00edba nap\u00e1dan\u00edm miest ju\u017en\u00e9ho kr\u00e1\u013eovstva (severn\u00e9 u\u017e bolo dobyt\u00e9 a vzat\u00e9 do zajatia) a kone\u010dne obliehan\u00edm Jeruzalema (701 p.n.l.), ale pobo\u017en\u00fd Chizkij\u00e1\u0161 a prorok Izai\u00e1\u0161 sa spoliehali na Boha, ktor\u00fd im pomohol, poslal anjela, ktor\u00fd zabil 185 000 vojakov As\u00fdrie (2 Kr\u00e1\u013e. 19,35), \u010d\u00edm sa As\u00fdria stiahla a u\u017e nikdy nedobyla ju\u017en\u00e9 kr\u00e1\u013eovstvo. Izai\u00e1\u0161 bol jedn\u00fdm z mnoh\u00fdch prorokov poslan\u00fdch od Boha k vyvolen\u00e9mu n\u00e1rodu, odsudzoval pr\u00e1zdne ritu\u00e1ly a modloslu\u017ebu, hl\u00e1sal (e\u0161te po\u010das vl\u00e1dy As\u00fdrie, ke\u010f Babylonsk\u00e1 r\u00ed\u0161a neexistovala) ju\u017en\u00e9mu kr\u00e1\u013eovstvu, \u017ee ak nepr\u00eddu sp\u00e4\u0165 k Bohu, Boh bude s\u00fadi\u0165 ich hriech, pr\u00edde Babylon a vezme ich do zajatia (Iz. 39,5\u20137). Mnoho Izai\u00e1\u0161ov\u00fdch prorokovan\u00ed sa naplnilo e\u0161te za jeho \u017eivota. Kniha m\u00e1 dve hlavn\u00e9 \u010dasti, prv\u00e1 sa zaober\u00e1 Bo\u017e\u00edm s\u00fadom nad Izraelom, J\u00fadeou a okolit\u00fdmi n\u00e1rodmi (kap. 1\u201339) za ich neposlu\u0161nos\u0165; druh\u00e1 \u010das\u0165 sa t\u00fdka zas\u013e\u00fabenia obnovy a n\u00e1deje, ktor\u00e1 pr\u00edde v prich\u00e1dzaj\u00facom Mesi\u00e1\u0161ovi (kap. 40\u201366). Kniha sa otv\u00e1ra siln\u00fdm napomenut\u00edm J\u00fadei za ich hriech, modl\u00e1rstvo, spolo\u010densk\u00fa nespravodlivos\u0165 (kap. 1), pri\u010dom ich Izai\u00e1\u0161 vyz\u00fdva k pok\u00e1niu a varuje pred Bo\u017e\u00edm trestom v podobe zahrani\u010dnej inv\u00e1zie (ktor\u00e1 nakoniec pri\u0161la, As\u00fdria, Babylon). Medzi hlavn\u00e9 t\u00e9my knihy patria Bo\u017eia sv\u00e4tos\u0165 (mor\u00e1lna dokonalos\u0165 a oddelenos\u0165 od hriechu) a zvrchovanos\u0165 (neexistuje ni\u010d nad Bohom, ktor\u00fd m\u00e1 v\u0161etko pevne v ruk\u00e1ch a v\u0161etko \u00faspe\u0161ne riadi k vlastn\u00fdm cie\u013eom). Izai\u00e1\u0161 je povolan\u00fd viden\u00edm Bo\u017eieho tr\u00f3nu a sv\u00e4tosti Bo\u017eej (kap. 6), av\u0161ak je mu zas\u013e\u00faben\u00e9 hne\u010f pri povolan\u00ed, \u017ee \u013eud nebude posl\u00facha\u0165 na jeho hlas, \u017ee z \u013eudsk\u00e9ho poh\u013eadu bude ne\u00faspe\u0161n\u00fd (prav\u00fd \u00faspech slu\u017eby sa v\u0161ak nemeria po\u010dtom pr\u00edvr\u017eencov, ale vernos\u0165ou P\u00edsmu a Bohu). Izai\u00e1\u0161 sl\u00fa\u017eil akt\u00edvne pribli\u017ene 60 rokov, st\u00e1le verne hl\u00e1saj\u00fac Bo\u017eie slov\u00e1 bez ak\u00fdchko\u013evek vidite\u013en\u00fdch v\u00fdsledkov u \u013eud\u00ed, \u010d\u00edm uk\u00e1zal, \u017ee \u010dlovek sa m\u00e1 dr\u017ea\u0165 Boha nie na z\u00e1klade vidite\u013en\u00fdch v\u00fdsledkov, ale \u010disto na z\u00e1klade Boha (skuto\u010dn\u00e9 v\u00fdsledky vid\u00ed Boh a slu\u017eobn\u00edk sa ich dozvie v nebi). Kniha u\u010d\u00ed, \u017ee ve\u013ek\u00fd Boh si dok\u00e1\u017ee pou\u017ei\u0165 i mocn\u00fa pohansk\u00fa r\u00ed\u0161u na vykonanie s\u00fadu nad Bo\u017e\u00edm neposlu\u0161n\u00fdm n\u00e1rodom a n\u00e1sledne s\u00fadi\u0165 i hriech tejto r\u00ed\u0161e (kap. 10); \u017ee Boh pote\u0161\u00ed a zachr\u00e1ni svoj \u013eud zo zajatia (kap. 40); \u017ee raz Slu\u017eobn\u00edk P\u00e1na (Mesi\u00e1\u0161) zachr\u00e1ni \u013eud \u00faplne (kap. 42; 49) a dovol\u00ed im naplni\u0165 ich \u00falohu, \u017ee bud\u00fa po\u017eehnan\u00edm n\u00e1rodom sveta, ako Boh zas\u013e\u00fabil Abrah\u00e1movi. V\u00fdznamn\u00e1 t\u00e9ma knihy je i kr\u00e1\u013eovstvo v D\u00e1vidovej l\u00ednii, \u010di De\u0148 Hospodinov (Bo\u017e\u00ed stra\u0161n\u00fd s\u00fad za hriechy \u013eud\u00ed). Vrchol knihy je kap. 53, kde sa detailne popisuje pl\u00e1n sp\u00e1sy, \u00faloha Mesi\u00e1\u0161a pri jeho prvom pr\u00edchode (vtelen\u00edm) na zem, \u017ee bude trpie\u0165 sekund\u00e1rne pod rukou hrie\u0161nych \u013eud\u00ed, prim\u00e1rne pod rukou spravodliv\u00e9ho sv\u00e4t\u00e9ho Boha ako z\u00e1stupn\u00e1 obe\u0165. Posledn\u00e9 kapitoly sa zaoberaj\u00fa v\u00edziou nebies a novej zeme (kap. 65; 66).
