Answers for Seekers

1. Does God exist, or is faith just an escape from reality?

Faith is not an escape, but a response to reality. It best explains the origin of the universe, the moral law, and our longing for meaning. Without God, we would have no objective foundation for good and evil. Faith shows us not only where everything comes from, but also where we are headed in life. In Jesus, we can find not only answers, but also a personal relationship that gives meaning even in the moments when life is hard.

If God does not exist, then there is no objective morality and no ultimate meaning.

2. Why believe that God created the universe, rather than it coming into existence by chance?

Chance creates nothing — it is merely a description of unpredictability. Modern science confirms that the universe had a beginning; everything that begins to exist has a cause beyond time, space, and matter. If that is so, it’s worth considering what or who that cause might be. Perhaps this is where our shared journey begins — seeking the answer to why anything exists at all.

3. How do we know that Jesus truly rose from the dead?

Some say that Jesus’ followers might have stolen the body—but it’s hard to imagine that they would all willingly suffer and die for something they knew was a lie. Others suggest that his enemies could have taken the body, but if that were true, they could have simply produced it to silence the emerging movement. There’s also the idea that the disciples went to the wrong tomb—but locals would have known and pointed to the correct one. Finally, some claim that Jesus didn’t actually die but only lost consciousness and revived in the tomb—but Roman soldiers were experienced executioners, and the wounds from crucifixion would have made such a recovery impossible. All these explanations ultimately seem less convincing than the extraordinary event that actually happened.

4. Isn’t the Bible just an old book full of myths?

Archaeology and textual criticism confirm the accuracy of the biblical records. We have thousands of manuscripts with minimal variations, allowing us to reconstruct the original text very precisely. Many historical details that skeptics once questioned have been confirmed through archaeological discoveries.

The Gospels do not bear the marks of myth, but those of historical records.

C.S. Lewis

5. If God is good, why does He allow evil and suffering?

Free will is necessary for true love—without the possibility to choose otherwise, we would be nothing more than programmed beings. Evil is the result of its misuse. The Bible teaches that sin entered the world through humanity (Romans 5:12), yet God still holds history in His hands and can bring good out of evil (Genesis 50:20). God is not indifferent—in Christ, He Himself bore suffering and will one day completely remove it. The cross shows that God entered our broken world to save us. The Bible promises a day when God will wipe away every tear and abolish death, mourning, and pain (Revelation 21:4).

6. Is it possible to believe in God and at the same time in modern science?

Science examines the “how,” while faith answers the “why.” Science can show us how gravity works or how stars develop, but it cannot explain why there is something rather than nothing, or what the meaning of life is. Many scientists (Newton, Kepler, Faraday) were Christians. Their faith led them to believe that the world is ordered and knowable because it has a wise Creator. Science and faith complement each other, not exclude each other. It is like reading a book—science can describe the composition of the paper and ink, but only the author can tell us why the story was written.

7. Isn’t Christianity just one of many paths to God?

Jesus did not come merely to teach morality, but to offer a personal relationship and forgiveness that brings new life. Moral teaching alone cannot free us from guilt or change our hearts. His words, “I am the way, the truth, and the life,” invite us onto a path that offers deeper meaning and hope than rules or ideals alone. Christ does not offer just a philosophy, but a real solution to our separation from God. Of all religious leaders, only Jesus died and rose again to save humanity and confirm His authority. This historical testimony is supported not only by the Gospels but also by early historical records, and it forms the foundation of the Christian hope—that death does not have the final word.

8. Why should I believe when believers are hypocritical?

Hypocrisy is a human problem, not Christ’s. Christianity stands on the perfection of Christ, not on that of His followers. That is why Christ’s love does not condemn us for our weaknesses, but invites us to genuine growth and transformation that flows from grace, not from striving for perfection by our own strength.

If you want to judge Christianity, judge Christ.

C.S. Lewis

9. Isn’t faith blind?

The existence of God is supported by the complexity and order of the universe, the objective reality of moral values, and the human longing for meaning and justice. Furthermore, historical testimonies about Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection provide strong evidence of God’s personal revelation.

10. What practical meaning does Christianity have for life today?

Christianity stands on the perfection of Christ, not on that of His followers. It offers a solid foundation for the dignity of every person, a hope that goes beyond death, forgiveness of guilt, and a love that comes directly from God.
